The middle image depicts the preparation of the teeth that will support the bridge. The bottom image reveals the final result, showcasing the restored smile of the patient.

Both crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices which are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist, unlike removable devices such as dentures, which you can take out and clean daily so the crown is used to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth or root canal treated tooth and to improve its appearance, shape or alignment the crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.

Porcelain or full ceramic crowns can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. Other materials include gold are generally stronger than porcelain and may be recommended for back teeth. Porcelain bonded to a metal is often used because it is both strong and attractive.

Gaps left by missing teeth eventually lead the remaining teeth to shift or rotate into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite, gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

A bridge may be recommended to restore the missing teeth and prevent the imbalance caused by missing teeth.
